Who is Mrs.Taing?

Hi, I’m Mrs. Taing! I was born in California. Both my parents were immigrants, my mother coming from Jamaica, and my father from Samoa. I grew up in North Sacramento, and eventually moved to Stockton when I got married in 2002. As my family grew I continued my education and in 2011 I graduated from Sacramento State University in Health Science.

Career-wise, my start in education started around 2007 and from there my love for education grew and grew not only as my profession but also for me personally. I continued to go to school and in 2014 I began teaching at Aspire’s Langston Hughes Academy as a 7th, and 8th-grade math teacher. I truly developed a love for my craft as a math teacher and found so much joy from building relationships with my students and their families. I especially enjoyed seeing my students succeed. Last year in 2019 I moved to my new home at Cleveland Elementary as the 7th-grade math and science teacher. This summer I reached one of my goals of graduating with my Master’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Education.

I am a wife and mother of five beautiful fun-loving children that keep me busy. In my spare time, I also like to karaoke, eat, build things, and spend time with my family. My next goal is that I would like to learn how to speak Spanish so that I can better connect and communicate with my Spanish speaking families, and students.

My motto as a teacher is that students can accomplish anything that they want to with hard work. As cliché as that may sound it is definitely true. I, myself am proof, and I have seen it countless times as a teacher with my students. I am excited to see all my students succeed this year!!
